Chapter 4

Tweet frowned as he watched his friend, “He just doesn’t trust easily, and he has an even bigger beef with Johnston. His daughter was one of his foster kids. When she aged out, he told her that he would connect her with her Father. Instead, he sent her to the Devil’s. We don’t know what happened to her after that.”

I swallowed, knowing that it would have more than likely been my fate if I hadn’t gotten out when I did. Chance looked at me, “You know anything about this?”

I shook my head, being completely honest, “No, but some of the others that had been their longer than me had told me to get out before I turned eighteen. Seeing my files just gave me an even more incentive to run. I knew that he was shady but not that shady.”

Chance nodded, “Stay out of sight and keep your helmet on. We don’t want him trying anything. I would hate to tell Tanks Father that he was joining him in prison because of some piece of tail.”

Tank rolled his eyes, “Ignore him, Cal.”

I laughed, knowing that I had to tell Chance who I was sooner rather than later. I hated him, thinking that I was a piece of ass for Tank. Especially seeing how we had just had our first kiss. And I hadn’t been with anyone yet. I leaned into Tank as I looked at Chance, “What's the matter, old man, you jealous?”

Tweet laughed as Tank tensed up, and Chance smiled, “Get your asses on your bikes we don’t have all night. Stray, you're next to Tank all the way there and back. Don’t veer off the path because I will drag you back here kicking and screaming if I have to.”

What he didn’t know was that I wasn’t planning on going anywhere. I followed them out to their bikes, and Tank pointed mine out. It wasn't anything fancy, but it was better than the death trap. Then again, anything was better than that piece of shit. Chance looked at me as I climbed on the dirt bike, “When we get to Rogers, you will take the lead. Take us straight there, then pull out of sight of him, but stay where tweet, Tank, or I can see you. Tweet might be horny, but I trust him, and I know that you trust Tank.”

He climbed on his bike and took off, and I did as he said, staying right next to Tank. Several other bikes joined us a few miles down the road but stopped at the Rogers city limit sign. That was where I took the lead and took them the most direct route. Chance rode next to me with Tank and Tweet right behind us. The other guys were behind them. When we got to Johnston’s street, I slowed and put my blinker on, telling them what house. I pulled up to the side of the garage where the light was out and waited while they went inside the garage and then the house.
